Position: Employment Specialist
Reports to: Director of Outpatient Services
Fulltime/Non-Exempt -40 Hours/week
SUMMARY
The Employment Specialist is accountable for providing recovery-oriented employment services, administering vocational assessments, developing Individualized Recovery-Oriented Vocational Plans, incorporating the input of individuals served and their natural supports, and assisting individuals with learning and implementing job readiness skills. The Employment Specialist links individuals with local employers, facilitating groups, and offers guidance and support to individuals to aid them in securing and retaining meaningful employment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Facilitate employment groups for clients on job search and retention techniques
• Assist clients in completing the vocational assessment
• Aid clients in evaluating their skills, assets, and needs and assist clients in planning and attaining their individual goals
• Assist clients in planning and developing a recovery-oriented vocational plan based on the clients’ stated strengths and needs
• Develop discharge plans with clients
• Maintain a caseload of up to thirty-five (35) clients
• Develop and maintain communication with other staff
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Outpatient Services
Skills Required: Initiative; willingness and ability to learn and to follow directions; ability to follow up on assignments through completion; knowledge of addiction and recovery process; client advocacy skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; compassion; a desire to assist clients to achieve successful recovery; familiarity with the Principles of Recovery
Minimum Qualifications: Valid CT Driver’s License, An Associate’s Degree in Human Services is preferred or High School Diploma and 2 years relevant work experience
